When does Codex quota reset? Personal quota and public resets explained

Distinguish personal quota resets, public reset announcements, completion updates and reset credit distribution. Find the official usage page and verify updates against the original post, timestamps and source status.

First, identify the type of information

Even when you see “Codex reset completed,” you still need to check your own account quota. A personal quota window resetting, a public reset announcement and reset credit distribution are different kinds of information. Quota Orbit collects public announcements; your account's current display determines whether your own quota has been restored.

On a phone, swipe the table horizontally to view all columns.

How to check your own quota

First, visit the official Codex usage page to check the information displayed for your current account. If sign-in is required, sign in directly on the official page. Do not send passwords, login credentials or personal quota data to a third party.

If you use Codex CLI, you can also enter /status in an active CLI session to view current usage information.

Reset behavior may vary by plan, usage and temporary arrangements. Do not infer your reset time from someone else's screenshot or treat a public announcement as a fixed reset time for all accounts.

The Quota Orbit website displays public announcements and does not read your remaining personal quota. To view personal quota on a Mac, first read the current public client's installation requirements and getting-started instructions. The website, extension and Mac client have different capabilities.

Check four things when assessing a public update

  1. Announcement type. Is this an advance announcement, distribution in progress, announced completion or an unconfirmed update?
  2. Original post and scope. Does it specify the plans or accounts covered? Are there later revisions, delays, cancellations or completion updates?
  3. Timestamps. Distinguish the post time, estimated time, actual event time and the time the page fetched the data. An announcement's timestamp is not your personal quota reset time.
  4. Source status. When the page shows stale, unhealthy or currently unconfirmed data, old records are for reference only. An announcement missing from the records does not mean that no reset occurred.

The announcement says complete, but your account has not changed

First check the official usage page for the account you are signed in to, then read the announcement's scope and follow-up posts. If the evidence is insufficient, leave the status as unconfirmed. Repeated clicks, wishes or enabling alerts do not prove that your quota has been restored.

If an update concerns reset credits, separately check the announced distribution status, availability in your own account and whether you have used them. “Distributed” does not mean “every user's personal quota has been restored.”

Spend less time refreshing

Use the website to browse public updates and its alert options to receive new announcements when the required conditions are met. Sleep mode, connectivity, browser state, system permissions and source delays can all affect alerts.

Set up public announcement alerts your way →. To connect your own script or dashboard, read the public announcement integration guide. None of these options provides personal account quota information.

Sources and verification date

Quota Orbit is an independent tool, not an official OpenAI product. Its public website and integration interfaces do not read personal quota, guarantee quota restoration for an individual account or provide reset probabilities.
